This conference aims to build insights and collaboration amongst researchers, policy makers, and social partners on skill formation systems, industrial transformation, and job creation for sustainable and inclusive economies and societies, and a just transition.

The conference is hosted by Wits University’s Centre for Researching Education and Labour (REAL) Centre and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in conjunction with the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PHZH), the South African Presidency (PMO/PYEI) and Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition.

Conference Venue

The International Conference for the Skills for Just Transition Conference on 11-12 May will be held at the Professional Development Hub (PDH) 

Wits University’s Braamfontein Campus East.

Conference Social Evenings 

  • Wednesday, 10 May 2023 – Registration and Welcome Cocktail at the WITS ORGINS CENTRE. The tour of the world famous Origins Centre will begin at 16.00 and the Welcome function will begin at 17.30

  • Thursday, 11 May 2023 – Dinner at the WITS ART MUSEUM, and tour of two exhibits- Photographer Caroline Suzman reflects on Johannesburg as a city of shadows and dreams in her I Declare I Am Here exhibition and the Encounters with the (im)material, exhibition.
     
  • Friday, 12 May 2023 – Traditional South African Braai and Social Evening at WITS REAL
